Prof. Dr. Reinhard Stauder MSc

Reinhard Stauder is the representative of Austria in the EUMDS registry. He has long-standing experience in both MDS and geriatrics, particularly in geriatric assessment and the development of individualised treatment algorithms in elderly cancer patients. At present Reinhard is responsible for the geriatric oncology and MDS program of the Department of Internal Medicine (Haematology and Oncology) of IMU, which is a centre of excellence of the MDS-foundation. In MDS-RIGHT, Reinhard is coordinating the integration and analysis of the geriatric assessment. In addition he is responsible for Work package 3 “Health related quality of life issues in elderly patients with anaemia”, which aims to optimize personalized treatment based on a comprehensive evaluation of a patient’s capacities and goals. Assessment of quality of life by the validated score “EQ-5D” and the recently developed “QUALMS” questionnaires will facilitate the individualized treatment of patients and will function as an early warning system. Thus, the ultimate aim is to improve clinical outcome and to integrate patient-reported outcomes including quality of life and functional capacities in MDS-patients.
